Bazm-e-Adab: An Evening with Poet Ashfaq Hussain Draws a Full House
UIC Literary Society, in collaboration with Unity in the Community (UIC), successfully organized “Bazm-e-Adab: An Evening with Poet Ashfaq Hussain,” which attracted a full house of literature lovers and community members. The event celebrated the richness of Urdu literature and brought together distinguished guests for an inspiring evening.
Member of Parliament Rechie Valdez and Councillor Martin Reid addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of cultural and literary initiatives in strengthening community ties. President Fasih Syed welcomed the guests and thanked everyone for their continued support of UIC’s literary and community programs.
Veteran performer Iqbal Singh Brar paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi, captivating the audience with memorable renditions of his timeless classics.
The highlight of the evening was the keynote presentation by renowned poet Ashfaq Hussain, who delivered a comprehensive and engaging talk on the evolution of Urdu literature across the Indian subcontinent, tracing its development in India and Pakistan and its growing presence in Canada. His insightful address was warmly received and greatly appreciated by the audience.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming Unity in the Community’s commitment to promoting literature, culture, and community engagement through meaningful and inclusive programs.
